The goddess Durga is the supreme mother of the Universe, and is said to be behind all creation, preservation and destruction in the world. "Durgati Nashini" means "one who eliminates suffering" or "one who destroys bad fate" and it is the title of a traditional North Indian folk song devoted to Durga.

Back in 2007, Banana was hitch-hiking on the Pacific West Coast and met Janina, who was living in Portland at the time. They went on adventures in the forest and Janina introduced Banana to Moondog. Years later, they met up in Oakland, California, and started jamming. This track was recorded at Ex'pressions College for the Digital Arts, in Oakland.

Banana Lazuli is a Canadian-Peruvian traveler and composer from Montreal, now residing in the Bay Area, California. She uses vocal loops, synthesizers, piano, harmonium as well as hand-held gadgets to create lush sound-scapes and poetic song narratives. She was taught this North Indian folk song by her music teacher, Sargam Shah.
